Sundays are always surreal for me. Usually in a good way. Not always. Sundays are the end and the beginning of a "chunk" of "time." Space music is always on the dial via Echoes and Hearts of Space. That being said, I must explain what the term "space music" means to me. Though the music is "spacey" and some may consider it music from "outer-space," that's not the whole picture or full meaning. "Space music" to me is music that creates a space; music that creates a space within one's thoughts. At it's best, it creates a SPACE in one's psyche that is meant for meditation, reflection, creative function and spacial separation from the current moment. Thus a "space" is created via music. A space to dwell in and separate yourself from everyday "reality."
Now I do not want to take away from the obvious spacey tones and otherworldly soundscapes. They are very much what most can only describe as "space music." It is spaced out. It is futuristic, mind-expanding, music that one may consider from another world and an OmniVerse that few travel. Ambient noise and complicated atmospheres are created, sometimes in a very minimalistic way. Space music helps one travel places without a spaceship or time machine. Delving into said-music in the deepest way allows one to make a "SPACE" separate from the space that is "normal" and "common" to most. It is the vessel to the OmniVerse. It is a means to escape.
Space music is the harmony that launches deep thoughts and intensity which calms one's soul. Drift away. Space out. Create. Chill. Create a new space and infinite dimensions.
